Random BPS Ideas

I have too many sticky notes on my desktop, so I'm trying to delete some. Moving these notes into a forum post.

Basically these are just some various ideas and plans for future BPS things.

- New intro/logo/theme
- Not upload crappy crap
- Seasonal community video (challenges, puzzles, machinima recommendations)
- Replace Game Nights
- Glitch Adventures replace Glitch Nights
- Arby Day Events!
- If-it-were-real (probably cancelled now due to it being done)
- Allow co directors to upload content
- make a twitter
- Branch into other media (games, animations, comics?)

This would be something interesting to see. A seasonal community video would be quite fun to make and quite fun for watchers.

Games are easy to touch basis and Animations are simple once you know what you're doing and what your motives are for it. As for comics, it mainly depends on you.

I think a new logo or Intro would be a Dandy change, not necessary, but dandy.

Well, you said it yourself, seeing game-play on machinima channel generally causes you to unsubscribe to that said channel due to the feed filled with gameplay and whatnot, so..Comics and Animations would be nice.

How about you have a big forge session in H2A? Give each player an island and see what they come up with. Give players a half hour to build a base/multi-player map, save the map, and swap out players. Have 4 rounds of this and then end the game. Then you, Mik3WB and a few others will individually rate the islands on a scale of 1-10. The island with the highest combined score wins, and the maker of the island gets a friend request from you. (Okay, maybe a different prize...)
Rules..
1: Disruption another player's map results in immediate DQ.
2: You can look at another player's map and use their ideas, so long as you don't sabotage.
3: You and the other judges will fly around the map in as editors and watch. At some point you will interview each player for a minute, so to not interfere too much with there work.
4: Whatever you can build yourself is fair game.
Feel free to make suggestions or additions.

I was referring to making games. I made a 2D flash game in Java last semester, and I'm working on Unity games now.

As for S1erra, we have a long way before the next Arby day xD. But I like the idea! I definitely want to plan a lot of cool stuff like that.

You could do a challenge where you give directors a particularly dramatic TSFH track and they have to make a music video for it in under 2 weeks.

Should we assign a different song to each director?

I think it would be best to have everyone use the same track, then judge who made the best response.

For example, a music video set to Navras by Juno Reactor about an elite in a mongoose performing sick stunts while awed onlookers are splattered.

Let the tube smite those with dem copyrights, for all you mentioned are falling under copyright strikes. Plus all mentioned above are trailer music or action music composers...meaning it will be stagnant and similar stuff...plus you will cause descent and unnecessary competition with judging , and "evaluating". Competition is good...not on the internet. I'd vote against dat

Don't the strikes only effect people profiting and/or not crediting the owners? Pretty much all the music used in Arby's things are TSFH etc.

Correct, though there are ways around the system. That being said, Bunch of us had Films which used the music, and a number of us had to take it down years later because said copyrights turn into REAL strikes on the Channel due to change in policy, change of copyright holders, or holders intent to take a serious stand against using their music without buying the rights to it...And that wasn't the focal point of why its not the best way to get something fun made.

It wouldn't have to be a challenge specifically. There are still plenty of dramatic musics out there which are royalty free.

You said TSFH, so i assumed you talked about Two Steps From Hell, so it was in reference to their music.

I was just using it as an example/joke seeing as RotS is filled with TSFH music (amongst others).

Edit: I've always wondered if there should be a name for the 'verse that RotS and co. is set in. Any thoughts on that?
Also, who would be interested in a 'novelisation' of RotS?

There's no harm in doing so, plus, you could potentially grow. Even though I very much doubt that's a concern to you… lol

Most of what is on the channel is of interest, but perhaps not all relevant to the rest of the content?

A twitter might be good for short updates, too, as well as acting as a was of posting videos up (often I miss videos due to other subscriptions, etc. etc.).

Arby already has a second channel for copyright ridden things and other goofy stuff.

I think I may have seen said channel before, but I'm not sure where to find it now.

Yeah. And just came up with this, thought not video related...
Does anyone have the time to write? Because they could novelize RotS and put it on fanfiction.net. For the people who don't have time to watch vids or prefer to read.

I could do it, but the issue is I'd need access to the original script, because of how fast-paced the episodes get.
I got halfway through the first page and thought
'ok, this isn't gonna work'.

Of course this would be overseen as a project, but like you say, youtube can sometimes be a pain.
I also found the novelisation of CE ('The Flood') to be interesting, seeing as you get to see details you miss in the game itself.
